Dinner

This was a pork chop cooked with cream of mushroom soup over rice, with spinach.

Lunch

Scrambled some eggs with cheese, had half a banana and some yogurt.

Breakfast

English muffins with some nice apricot jam.

Dinner

Meatloaf is a great way to hide stuff. Walt had no idea that he was eating a lot of leftover sauerkraut! Served this with garlic mashed potatoes and salad.

Lunch

This chicken tortilla soup really hit the spot. I added extra tortilla strips to it.

Back to the land of the living

Feeling normal again. Back to regular eating!

Saturday, May 29, 2010

Dinner

By dinnertime I was starting to think I could finally eat something, so just had a small bowl of rice.

"Breakfast," I guess

I woke up sick as a dog and it was 2 p.m. before I could tentatively try a dry piece of toast.

Dinner al Fresco

We went to an outdoor performance in the park and bought dinner. I don't know if the sandwich gave me intestinal problems the next day, but I sure was sick.

Lunch

For lunch I had another of the pecan rolls and finished off the chili from earlier this week.

Mmmm..pecans

I had a craving for some of the pecans I had sitting here, so I made cinnamon rolls with pecans.

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Dinner

Terriyake chicken with pasta (because we were out of rice), and tomato-avocado salad. Actually I only hate half the chicken, and almost none of the avocado because it just was too rich.

Lunch

A frozen burrito (thawed, of course) for lunch.

Breakfast

Back to normal again with Cheerios and English muffins

Monday, May 24, 2010

I had toast and broth for lunch, but not much else to eat today.

The one meal day

Cheerios for breakfast. I had a couple of days of some intestinal "unsettling," so I stopped taking regular pictures until I got the stomach thing under control.

More Chili

For dinner I added a tortilla.

Lunch

Walt is out of town, so I made a big pot of chili for myself to last for several meals. This was lunch.

Breakfast

Peach oatmeal with peanut butter toast.

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Dinner

Finishing off the roast chicken, with some sliced tomatoes and cornbread.

Mid-Day

This wasn't exactly lunch, but I did have it mid-day.

Breakfast

I hadn't had pancakes in a long time and had a hankering for some.

Friday, May 21, 2010

Dinner

Kind of my own version of migas. Just scrambled eggs with toasted strips of corn tortillas.

Jack's back

I stopped at Jack in the Box for a plain cheeseburger (just meat and cheese; no sauce), and curly fries, most of which I spilled on the floor of the car, and a vanilla shake.

Breakfast of Champions

Special K with berries, toast, coffee, and all those pills.

Dinner

I skipped lunch again today because of nausea. But I did have some dinner.

I ate most of the artichoke, but left most of the chicken.

Sunny side up

I was just feeling like a fried egg to go with my English muffin.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Dinner

I skipped lunch because I wasn't feeling well. I had a little bit of leftover roasted chicken and some V-8 juice for dinner...and then felt worse.

Breakfast

Some Cheerios and peanut butter toast.

Osaka, Rediscovered

On the anniversary of Paul's and David's deaths, we go out for sushi. Since Osaka Sushi in Davis has closed, tonight we tried Osaka Sushi in Woodland, 1o miles away...and it was wonderful.

This was Kani Maki (snow crab) and that wonderful spicy tuna that I love.

And this was Osaka Maki, fried shrimp rolled in rice, with avocado on top. Love it!

I was going to splurge on a tempura banana, but was waaay too full.

Making a Healthy Choice

This is a Healthy Choice Orange Chicken steamed lunch.

Asiago

I love Asiago bagels. This morning I had a bagel with seedless watermelon.

Roast Chicken

I bought a free range chicken and roasted it, with stuffing and served with salad. Yummy.

Real men...

I also bought a piece of quiche for lunch while I was at the supermarket.

Memories of France

I stopped at the supermarket on the way home from the doctor's today and couldn't resist a chocolate croisssant...just like the ones I had in France last year.

Namaste Nepal

A new Indian/Nepalese restaurant opened this week, in the location where a Mexican restaurant closed recently. They sent out discount coupons and we decided to check it out.

Since it's a brand new restaurant which hasn't established a clientele yet, they cook everything to order and told us it would be 15 minutes before our order was up. But they gave us this "Vegetable Mo-Mo" for an appetizer. They were steamed vegetable dumplings that tasted like they had some pickling spices in them. They were served with two different chutneys.

I ordered Lamb Coconut Tarkari, which is a coconut based lamb curry and is the lighter colored of the two dishes over the rice. Walt ordered Lamb Mushroom Tarkari, which is boneless lamb and mushrooms cooked with herbs and spices, according to the menu. Both were delicious.

And, of course, on the left of the plate is a garlic-basil naan bread, my favorite!

Good scones!

I don't usually order scones in the US because they are usually very dry, but this one, from Ciocolat in Davis, was extraordinary. It was only lacking clotted cream and jam to make it a real British experience! I had this at a late morning meeting and, since I knew we were going out to dinner, made it my lunch.

Leftovers

One nice thing about having Blackberry Buckle for dessert is that, like pumpkin pie, it makes a great breakfast too!

Saturday, May 15, 2010

Dessert

I bought some blackberries at Costco and thought I'd make a pie, but Walt has been sampling them, so there wasn't enough for pie. Instead I made a blackberry buckle, which was also pretty tasty.

Dinner

Another little lamb chop, an ear of corn and a roll. Nothing exciting.

Lunch

Walt and I split the leftover raviolis from last night's dinner for lunch today.

Yum...cherries!

Walt picked up some cherries at the farmers' market and we both enjoyed them for a snack.

Jimmy Dean

A Jimmy Dean sausage and egg croissant with a glass of orange-strawberry-banana juice.

Friday, May 14, 2010

Dinner

Cheese raviolis with Parmesan cheese, creamed spinach

A quasi-healthy lunch

More Bagels

Almost out of bagels for breakfast!

Celebrate Davis

This isn't exactly a dinner shot, but it sorta is. We went to the "Celebrate Davis" event tonight and I had a beef and cheese pirogi for dinner...you can see them on the middle shelf of that case on the right side of the table. (Naturally even with two cameras in my hand and a cell phone at my waist, I forgot to take a photo of MY pirogi!)
